Clean Fuels: South Dakota
With the cooperation of local car dealerships and the Get-N-Go service station chain, South Dakota-based VeraSun Energy has found E85 success in the Sioux Falls area. By 2008, the Sioux Falls area was home to 17 E85 retail stations, the largest per capita market in the nation. Other communities in South Dakota are following the trend resulting in South Dakotas 70 E85 stations.
Another Clean Air Choice™ available to South Dakotans is biodiesel. In 2007, there were nearly 60 biodiesel retail stations across the state. This total is expected to grow, allowing diesel engine owners to use this clean, renewable alternative.
The South Dakota Clean Air Choice Team is working to promote clean renewable biofuels in the state. This private-public South Dakota team is collaborating to educate consumers on biofuels and helping to promote the growth of biofuels.
