Clean Fuels: Illinois
Find E85 near you
Illinois has been one of the nation's leaders in alternative fuels for many years. Throughout the state, biofuels use is on the rise. Illinois will soon be home to more than 200 E85 stations. To date, more than fifty percent of the fuel sold in Illinois contains 10 percent ethanol and Illinois has one of the largest state fleets of flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs).
Furthermore, 83 million gallons of biodiesel are produced in the state from Illinois-grown
feedstocks. Many Illinois citizens with diesel engines can now fill up with biodiesel blends of up to 11% (or higher) at the 100+ biodiesel stations.
The American Lung Association of Illinois has been awarded a $67,923 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 for installing idle reduction equipment on 15 school buses in Madison County and the east metro region of the St. Louis suburbs. The grant will serve the children of the Roxana School district.
