Pollutants: Sulfur Dioxide
Belongs to the family of sulfur oxide gases, which are formed when fuel containing sulfur (coal and oil) is burned, and during metal smelting and other industrial processes. Health effects include respiratory illness, alterations in the lung's defenses, and aggravation of existing cardiovascular disease. Those with cardiovascular disease, chronic lung disease, or asthma, children and the elderly may be more sensitive to sulfur dioxide.
