Pollutants: Acetaldehyde
Acetaldehyde is found in automobile and diesel exhaust. It is a colorless volatile water-soluble liquid. Limited exposure may cause eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation. Symptoms of exposure include nausea, vomiting, headache, dermatitis, and pulmonary edema. In sufficient concentrations acetaldehyde can effect animals in a similar way to humans. Studies have shown that long term exposure is likely to cause respiratory tract cancers.
